Public Works Director Joe Smith told the Municipal Grounds and Property Committee that Clearwave Fiber is entering the preconstruction phase and the City will meet with the firm next week to discuss standards and expectations. The committee recorded the update during new business on April 28.
Director Smith also said there are "approximately six fiber companies interested in laying fiber in the City" and that the City will send those companies the agreement it has with Clearwave outlining standards. The minutes do not record permit submissions or binding commitments; Director Smith noted no permits had been submitted at the time of the meeting.
