Lake Katherine director previews annual report, cites grants, trainings and events

Blakesley said recent highlights included a Run Wild 5k with 145 registrants supported by sponsors Ozinga, Athletico, Richards Bikes, Urban Canopy and Do Good Movement, a Beaver Day hike that produced four beaver sightings, and volunteer garden work including replanting and composting. He reported staff held a protocol and frontline training with Chief Yott and Deputy Chief Crowley of the Palos Fire District and that eight staff completed CPR training. Blakesley also said Lake Katherine applied for three grants—two to ComEd and one to Cummins—to support programs and operations.
Blakesley flagged two upcoming public events: City Clean-up Day on April 18 and a Film Fest on April 23, and summarized seasonal children’s programming such as Nature Tots, Little Explorers, Junior Explorers and scout camping and outdoor-art workshops. The annual report will provide further detail when it is presented to the City Council next week.
