Palos Heights committee weighs raising minimum building-permit fee to $150

At its April 14 meeting, the City of Palos Heights License, Permits & Franchises Committee considered a proposed change to building-permit fee structure that would retain a 1% fee on construction costs while increasing the minimum fee from $95 to $150.
City Administrator Adam Jasinski said the increase is intended to cover review and inspection costs and to align permit fee language with a new permitting software the Building Department will implement this summer. Jasinski told the Committee that once approved the fees "will be clearly stated in the permit portal and our Website" and codified in city code. The Committee did not take a formal vote on the proposal during the meeting; next steps were described as additional review and formal codification.
