The Village of Dakota board voted to accept the resignation of Chief of Police Brad Curtis and moved swiftly to fill the post. Trustee Eric Lizer moved to accept Curtis’s resignation; Trustee Ken Vrazsity seconded and the motion carried. Trustee Eric Lizer then moved to appoint Jacob Maratos as chief of police; Trustee Ken Vrazsity seconded and the motion carried.
President Alisha Lizer administered the oath of office to Jacob Maratos after the appointment. During public comment Amber Riley asked that the newly appointed officer contact her with updates for the Dakota Neighborhood Watch Facebook page; the officer said he would collect her contact information and provide updates.
