Council approves fall community events, sets Winter Extravaganza date
Summary
The council approved a Lions Club gun raffle and Knights of Columbus bingo/raffle, set city garage sale dates for Sept. 24–27, and agreed to hold the Winter Extravaganza on Dec. 13 at 2 p.m.; National Night Out turnout and sponsorship challenges were also discussed.
At the Aug. 6 meeting the council approved event requests for the fall and set several community dates. Jason Revoir requested a Lions Club gun raffle for Oct. 11 (approved; a $100 fee was noted), and Mark Dorn received council approval for the Knights of Columbus annual bingo and raffle (confirmed as Oct. 26). Mayor Lisa Marvin signed paperwork for the Lions request to be forwarded to the treasurer for processing.
Danita Traut reported National Night Out attendance was down and that sponsorship outreach yielded few responses; she proposed a larger celebration next year and will record feedback in event forms. The council set the citywide garage sale for Sept. 24–27 and agreed to hold the Winter Extravaganza on Saturday, Dec. 13 at 2:00 p.m., pending confirmation of hall availability. The Sportsman Club reported upcoming ATV training for Sept. 6.
