Pitman Historic Commission seeks CO language to flag properties in Historic District; mayor asks about realtor disclosure law

Councilwoman Musto reported that the Historic Commission, Construction Office and Fire Inspector drafted verbiage to be added to Certificates of Occupancy so that buyers would be informed if a property lies in the Historic District and thus subject to pre-approval for exterior changes.
Mayor Razze asked Borough Solicitor Wright, "is there any legal requirement for a realtor to advise someone that they are purchasing a property in a Historic District?" Solicitor Wright said he was not aware of a statutory requirement and offered to research the matter. Councilwoman Musto noted that realtors do not always do their research or inform clients, saying the change is meant to ethically and professionally inform property owners.
The proposal described at the meeting is an administrative step to improve buyer notice; no formal ordinance or binding disclosure rule was adopted at the June 9 meeting.
