At the Jan. 12 meeting the Colton City Council approved a package of administrative resolutions and procedural items.
Council set the City of Colton election date as Nov. 3, 2026 (motion by Lyon, seconded by Wochnick). The council approved Resolution #1-2026 (salaries), Resolution #2-2025 (fees and fines), and Resolution #4-2025 naming The Minnehaha Messenger as the official newspaper for 2026. Council also approved Resolution #5-2026 designating Reliabank, CorTrust Bank and the South Dakota Public Funds Investment Trust as the city's depositories for 2026; engaged Schoenfish to complete the 2025 annual report; and approved the Sioux Falls Humane Society Operations Agreement for 2026.
