Cuba committee to seek Ameren data as it weighs LED conversions, additional streetlights

Alderman Yocum called the City of Cuba Streets & Alleys Committee to order at 7:38 p.m. Tuesday to review neighborhood lighting on Van Buren and South 6th Street. Ms. Woods provided photos showing the current installations and the locations under consideration for improvements.
"There are currently three lights on Van Buren; however, the street is fairly long, and the bulbs on those lights have not yet been converted to LEDs," the committee recorded after the photo presentation. Alderman Yocum said he would contact Ameren to determine how many bulbs have already been replaced and to gather information the committee can use to plan any further work.
Committee members discussed the possibility of adding two additional streetlights along the corridor but agreed to focus first on converting existing bulbs to LEDs and trimming trees that may be blocking light. Alderman Yocum and Alderman Burgett also raised the need for four additional "Slow – Children at Play" signs to be installed on Van Buren and South 6th Street to improve neighborhood safety.
No formal motion on new poles or signage was recorded during the discussion. The committee directed Alderman Yocum to contact Ameren and return with information to inform next steps.
