On July 1 the West Long Branch Council introduced Ordinance O-26-17 to expand existing fee exemptions for active members of the West Long Branch Fire Department and Emergency Medical Services to include the borough’s portion of permit-to-carry handgun fees (citing N.J.S.A. 2C:58-4c). The ordinance was passed on introduction and the council set a public hearing for Aug. 5, 2026 at 6:00 PM.
The ordinance text limits the exemption to active members (not family members) and specifies the exemption applies to fees charged and retained by the borough.
