Borough Attorney Baxter said the borough engaged outside counsel to advise on religious land use matters and that staff have circulated a report and a planner-drafted amendment. "The Borough had hired Brent Pohlman to assist with religious land use (RLUIPA) matters related to the Borough's ordinances," Baxter said, and he told the council he is waiting for answers to follow-up questions before the amendment proceeds.
Mayor Janet W. Tucci presided over the caucus meeting and noted the item remains in progress; Baxter indicated the report had been shared with the borough engineer and planner and that the planner then sent a proposed ordinance amendment. No formal ordinance vote was taken at the caucus; Baxter said the amendment will move forward only after the outstanding clarifications are resolved.
