Board hears support for 'Trails' SEL lessons, and district confirms Aug. 31, 2026 school start

Board members discussed social-emotional learning programs and requested a Trails lesson demonstration for the board to better understand lesson length and content. One board member said such programs are “vital to not only, supporting our students develop the skills that are necessary…,” and staff explained the lesson observed was about 40 minutes and typically scheduled twice a month or during intervention time rather than during core instruction.
Administrators also confirmed that the state approved the district's 2026–27 pre–Labor Day calendar, setting the first student day for Monday, Aug. 31, 2026. The superintendent reminded the board about upcoming events and the May 5 tech millage election.
