City Administrator Michael Grayum briefed council members on several initiatives during the July 7 study session. Staff are collaborating with department directors to develop Zillah's first strategic plan. Grayum said staff are also exploring a pickleball event offering lessons to increase court usage and draw players from across the Yakima Valley, and are conducting after-action reviews of the 4th of July and 3-on-3 events to identify improvements.
Grayum described vendor interest in a second food truck zone as promising and said the other proposed location along Vintage Valley Parkway ties into a vision for creating a Yakima Valley Public Market. These items were informational; no formal council action was recorded on the strategic plan, pickleball pilot, or food-truck zone during this meeting.
