The Finance/Personnel Committee of the Mineral Point Unified School District met May 5 and reviewed potential changes to the district's additive pay schedule, focusing on music stipends, a media additive contract, and coaching for girls' wrestling. Danielle Miller presented findings and identified a $difference in compensation between the instrumental instructor and other music positions that originated under a prior administrator; the committee asked administrator Mitch Wainwright to meet with the affected staff member to explore eliminating duplicate contracts and aligning pay.
The committee discussed the Media instruction arrangement after a prior board decision created a full‑time Media position. "The committee recommends full board support for eliminating the media additive contract," the minutes record. Committee members said that with a full‑time Media instructor on staff, the additive contract appears redundant and eliminating it would simplify payroll and budgeting. The committee also requested an explanation of all club activities and descriptions so the board can confirm which programs require additive pay versus district staffing.
Members also addressed athletics staffing. The committee noted growth in the girls' wrestling program and "directed Mitch to work with the Athletic Director, Chris Carr, and the current Varsity Wrestling coach to determine if there are any requirements from the WIAA." That work is to inform whether a district‑paid coaching position is warranted for the upcoming school year.
The committee did not adopt a final policy at the meeting; instead it compiled recommendations and directed additional fact‑finding for the full board's consideration.
