Sheriff Eddie Hawkins presented several routine operational items to the Board. The June 2026 meal log was spread on the minutes; Supervisor Williamson moved approval and Supervisor Furnari seconded, resulting in a 5-0 vote. The Board approved the hire of Crystal Howse as Deputy-Animal Control at a rate of $20.90 per hour, effective July 27, 2026, and accepted a donation from Protection4Paws of a Buddy Bag-K9 medical kit valued at $400.
The Board also approved an out-of-state travel request for Deputies Earl Hester and Anthony Hairston to travel to Harris County, Texas, for inmate pick-up on July 18–19, 2026. Separately, pursuant to state statute, the Board authorized departing deputy Tony Cooper to purchase his service weapon for $10 after it had been declared surplus. All motions were approved 5-0 and recorded on the minutes.
