Henrico County's Board of Supervisors on Dec. 16 approved awarding a professional engineering services contract to Whitman, Requardt & Associates, LLP for the East End Water Transmission Main project. The negotiated lump-sum contract is $24,672,098 and covers engineering, design and construction administration for installation of approximately 70,000 linear feet of 42-inch water main serving the Brookland, Fairfield and Varina districts.
The selection followed a competitive procurement process with seven proposals received and interviews of shortlisted firms. The selection committee ranked Whitman, Requardt & Associates as the top firm and negotiated the contract. Funding will come from the Water and Sewer Revenue Fund, and the County Manager was authorized to execute the contract in a form approved by the County Attorney.
