The Henrico County Board of Supervisors on Tuesday elected Roscoe D. Cooper III to serve as chair for 2026, with Misty D. Roundtree chosen as vice‑chair. The nominations passed unanimously after Jody K. Rogish nominated Cooper and Tyrone E. Nelson seconded the nomination; Roundtree was nominated and confirmed in a separate unanimous vote.
Cooper thanked his colleagues and outlined priorities he said the board would pursue this year, including continued investment in schools, safety and economic development. "It is an immense honor and a responsibility that I do not take lightly," Cooper said, noting plans for new and renovated school facilities and pedestrian improvements. He also cited recent fiscal achievements, including the county's bond ratings and a large tax‑rate reduction, as a foundation for upcoming work.
The leadership votes followed routine organizational business and were taken by unanimous roll call. After the election, board members praised the choices and expressed support for the board's stated priorities for 2026.
