Commissioners approve FAA and state grant agreements for Sawyer apron reconstruction

The board approved resolutions to accept and execute grant agreements for an FAA/AIP project to reconstruct the general aviation apron at Sawyer (Sawyer International), which staff said will reconstruct about 11,000 square yards and repair an additional 12,500 square yards.
"This is a FAA, grant that we received, ready for signature," staff member David said, outlining the funding structure and the split of federal (approximately 95%) and state shares. He told commissioners that remaining local share was expected to be covered by a prior state allocation of $3,000,000 and other entitlement funds.
Commissioners moved and approved the resolution accepting the federal grant and a second resolution to enter a state contract for the apron reconstruction; roll calls recorded affirmative votes. The board authorized the chair to sign the grant and contract documents required to accept federal and state funds for the apron project.
