Marquette County commissioners voted July 21 to authorize $47,149 in Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) revolving‑fund dollars for an emergency housing repair program aimed at homeowners at or below 80% of area median income.
Amy, a county housing program staffer, told the board the program is a revolving fund and that the county is entering program year '25 with $47,149 to assist eligible residents. "So we are entering fiscal year '25 with $47,149 like you said, to assist residents that are at or below 80% of the area median income," she said. She added the program covers roofs and hot water heaters but not windows.
During public comment and board questions, staff said applicants must own and occupy the home for at least one year and that awards are made on a first‑come, first‑serve basis with triage for urgent cases. Commissioners acknowledged the amount will not eliminate a backlog of needs and that other funding sources, such as partnerships with Habitat for Humanity and Community Action organizations, have been used to reduce waiting lists.
The board moved to accept staff recommendations and, on a roll‑call vote, approved the expenditure and program authorization. The motion recorded unanimous affirmative votes in the roll call.
