John also requested approval for payment per student in lieu of transportation for the 2026–27 school year pursuant to Ohio Revised Code 3327.02, explaining that the district must attempt to provide transportation to participating private, parochial or charter school students and must pay parents if a route is impractical: "We we are required, if anyone from any participating private, parochial, or charter, or community school request transportation, we're provided to or we're obligated to try to get them on a route. If that route is deemed impractical, then we have to pay that those parents to take each child to school." The board approved the motion by roll call.
