District interns demonstrate hardware work after Schlink Foundation grant

Von Torsic, the district's Director of Operations and Technology, introduced two summer technology interns and outlined a Schlink Foundation grant that funded replacement of the computer lab desktops.
"This year we were able to get 2 interns, Savannah Brockway and Ben Pleva," Von Torsic said, and described how "we were able to replace all the computers in our computer lab" and that the interns helped remove old machines, connect new desktops and load software.
Ben Pleva, introduced himself to the board and described his summer work: "This summer, I'm I worked mostly on improving my skills for coding and, like, learning how to, like, go through proms and fixing them. Like, expand on what Auburn taught me." Savannah Brockway invited board members to view Chromebook components she brought: "I decided to bring some of the parts from the Chromebooks and so you can look at the inside of a laptop."
Board members thanked the staff for coordinating the internship and the grant. The presentation noted the internship is a paid position with state reimbursement and can lead to an industry-recognized credential for participating students.
