Board approves personnel actions, settlement agreements, contract with Family Service League and two educational grants

The Shelter Island Board of Education approved a set of personnel, contract and donation items on March 30 as part of the consent agenda.
Personnel actions approved included acceptance of the resignation for retirement of Meghan Lang effective Sept. 11, 2026; approval of a Memorandum of Agreement with the Shelter Island Faculty Association covering a one-time retirement incentive and related settlement agreements; acceptance of a medical leave of absence for District Clerk Jacqueline Dunning through June 30, 2026; and appointment of Mallory Clark as Account Clerk (effective March 10, 2026) at a salary of $51,281. All personnel motions carried unanimously.
On business items the board approved an agreement with Family Service League of Huntington for student services for the period July 1, 2026 through June 30, 2027, and accepted two grants from the Shelter Island Educational Foundation: $2,400 for the Long Island Musical Festival field trip and $3,160 for the Music Department’s Broadway field trip (the budget line for field trip fees will be increased accordingly). The board also authorized participation in Eastern Suffolk BOCES’ joint municipal cooperative bidding program under General Municipal Law §119-o and Education Law §1950. Motions on business items carried unanimously.
