The Village of North Riverside Board of Trustees on June 15 approved a set of ordinances that together adopt updated building standards and set the village’s FY2026–2027 spending plan. Trustee Sarro moved to approve the Annual Appropriation Ordinance for FY2026–2027 (26‑O‑26); Trustee Canas seconded and the roll-call vote was unanimous.
In the same package the Board adopted the 2024 International Existing Building Code (26‑O‑27), amended building regulations to update certificate-of-compliance requirements for property transfers (26‑O‑24), and amended Chapter 5.99 to create a registration process and fee for homeowners acting as general contractors (26‑O‑28). Trustee Bianco read the requests for action from Community Development Director Hughes; each measure was passed with an aye vote by all trustees present. Trustee Bianco thanked staff and volunteers for the Mayor’s Scholarship Golf Outing, calling it the “best golf outing ever!”
The ordinances were presented and approved on unanimous roll-call votes; the minutes record that formal reading was waived for the appropriation and several code items. These measures will be codified as ordinances 26‑O‑24 through 26‑O‑28 in the municipal code and take effect according to the ordinances’ terms.
