Lumberton ISD highlights student qualifiers and staff recognitions in superintendent report

Superintendent Dr. John Mathews used the May 7 meeting to report a range of student and staff recognitions. Items listed included Sport Up/Unified Athletes — Raider Champion Day; High School UIL Academic regional qualifiers; LSET Student Leaders; All-District honors across girls' and boys' basketball, soccer and golf; Raiders powerlifting state qualifiers; Raiders/Lady Raiders track regional and state qualifiers; and pharmacy technician students receiving certifications.
Mathews also announced staff recognitions, including Teachers and Paraprofessionals of the Year for the 2026–2027 school year, Elementary and Secondary District Teachers of the Year, and Admin Employees of the Month identified as Tim Lane, Safety Director, and Travis Edgerton, High School Principal. A recognition for Meagan Hogg for School Communicators Day was also noted. These items were presented as informational and required no board vote.
