Soil & Water announces June e-waste event, Humbert Farms grant and harvesting delay

Ron Thorn, Water Conservation District Manager, told the Public Works Committee that the district will hold an e-waste collection event on June 18 and 19. He also said the weed-harvesting crew has been secured for the year but harvesting operations may begin later than planned because of high water levels.
Thorn said the district has pursued grant opportunities and recently secured funding for Humbert Farms through the Department of Agriculture and Markets. He also reported that bids for the Port Bay REDI project came in higher than anticipated and were rejected; the district will rebid after reviewing specifications. The June e-waste event and the grant for Humbert Farms were presented as immediate, actionable items for the district.
