Sheriff's Office wins approvals for veterinary services, school resource officer, software and equipment purchases

Sheriff Robert Milby told the Public Safety Committee the office received committee approval on several administrative and procurement items on June 2. The committee recorded 4-0 votes to authorize a per-diem agreement with Lyons Veterinary Clinic for professional veterinary services related to animal cruelty investigations and to sign an agreement with Gananda Central School District for one deputy sheriff school resource officer.
Milby also presented and received approval for an agreement with CLPS, LLC to provide FOURDSCAPE emergency management and security software, authorization to purchase a portable drug analyzer using NYS Law Enforcement Technology Grant funds and state asset forfeiture funds, and acceptance of a bid to purchase two all-terrain vehicles (ATVs). The approvals were entered 4-0 on the committee record. Milby reported that the Marshall Farms vigil was conducted without incident and that a recent country‑music festival drew about 3,000 attendees; he also noted intermittent problems with the county radio system that remain a concern.
