The Jackson County Board of Supervisors approved a utility permit Sept. 30 allowing Maquoketa Valley Electric Cooperative to rebuild an existing overhead power line along 12th Street over the Sugar Creek area in Fairfield Township (Section 31). Engineering staff said the project is largely a rebuild of existing facilities and that any new underground fiber would be installed by boring beneath the road.
The engineer recommended approval and the board passed the motion by voice vote. The permit includes the cooperative’s overhead rebuild and a short segment of underground fiber; staff said standard boring methods will be used for underground segments.
