Jackson County approves county-attorney appointment, deputy hire and other personnel actions

HR then presented a nine‑month probationary appointment for part‑time deputy Richard Ewald; the board approved ERwald's appointment and authorized payroll implementation.
The board accepted resignations from PRN corrections officers Caitlin Kuehl (effective 10/01/2025), Michael Reed (effective 08/18/2025) and Hunter Pirtle (effective 08/05/2025). HR also recommended moving general assistance oversight to the mental health department and asked the board to appoint Linnea Birkin as general assistance director effective 10/14/2025; the board approved that appointment. "He was hired under a 6 month probationary certificate, which expires today," HR said of the county-attorney hire.
