Flambeau School Board appoints Kim Dachel to fill vacant seat in 5-1 vote

The Flambeau School Board voted 5–1 on Aug. 4 to appoint Kim Dachel to a vacant seat on the board, effective immediately and to serve until the next regular election. The motion to appoint Dachel was made by Laura Dutter-Nelson and seconded by Lana Nelson; Ted Alberson cast the lone no vote.
The board interviewed two candidates earlier in the meeting, Craig Cahoon and Kim Dachel, asking about each candidate’s interest in the role, strengths they would bring, ideas for school improvement, willingness to make difficult decisions, meeting attendance and boundary maintenance for the post. After a short discussion following the interviews, the board moved to the appointment vote. The minutes record the roll-call votes: Laura Dutter-Nelson — Yes; Zenny Mahun — Yes; Linda Zimmer — Yes; Lana Nelson — Yes; Jennifer Heath — Yes; Ted Alberson — No.
The appointment follows the board’s routine approval of personnel and minutes earlier in the session. The board also announced a Finance Meeting on Aug. 13 and the regular monthly meeting on Aug. 20.
