Board approves housing needs-assessment engagement, authorizes audit services and modest budget changes

Supervisors were authorized to execute a letter of engagement with Nelson Pope & Voorhees LLC to perform a housing needs assessment for the town. Board members said the project will be partially funded from the town's community housing fund and by a Community Development Block Grant award of approximately $35,000. "It is partially coming out of the housing fund...we applied for a grant last cycle that will cover a little over 0.5 of it," a board member explained.
Separately the board authorized a letter of engagement with PFK O'Connor Davies LLP to provide audit services for fiscal years ending 12/31/2025 and 2026. Board members confirmed that the audit package, including the 'report to those in charge of governance' and the federal 'yellow book' report, had been distributed to members.
On budget items, the board approved a $2,504.48 increase in insurance-recovery revenue and a matching highway machinery repair expense to reflect an insurance reimbursement, approved transfers to senior-center accounts to support a new bus driver and part-time clerk needs, and adopted a parking-permit fee schedule for nonresidents (daily $35; weekly $90; monthly $170; seasonal $325). The board also authorized IT and GIS web support expenditure ($3,900) to CAI Technologies for June 2026–May 2027.
