The Town Board of Shelter Island voted to authorize an agreement with BBS Architecture to produce a facilities master plan covering town buildings and department needs, the board said.
The board selected BBS from four proposals and estimated the project cost at $58,790. "This agreement is for the facilities master plan," the chair read during the meeting as the board discussed the procurement and upcoming presentation by the town engineer scheduled for March 31. The master plan will inventory town facilities and outline prioritized repairs and upgrades, officials said.
Board members emphasized that the selection balanced technical fit and budget. Town counsel explained that negotiations on the contract could occur in executive session and that a finalized agreement would be made available for public review once executed.
The authorization passed on a voice vote. The board directed staff to bring the finalized scope and timeline to the March 31 work session for further public briefing.
The board did not identify additional funding beyond the $58,790 line item during the meeting and said further financial details would be provided with the engineer's presentation.
