Joyce Phillips, a resident who addressed the board during public comment, asked whether the village had researched who is liable for damage caused by trees located on village property but maintained by adjacent homeowners. She told the board she had bids from Blooms Tree Service: "$1,575.00 to cut the one down and $875.00 to trim the second one," and said the village was still waiting for an estimate from Backwoods Tree Service for cemetery work.
Board members gave differing initial responses: Mike Wise said the village should follow the existing ordinance and keep responsibility with residents; Rich Rote said the village should accept responsibility for trees planted by the village when residents were not asked for permission.
