Council authorizes application for Prairie Corridor Trail grant after correcting request amount

The council authorized Parks and Recreation to apply for a Recreational Trails Program grant to extend the Prairie Corridor Trail from Pioneers Park Nature Center toward Southwest 56th Street.
JJ Yost, assistant director of Parks, said the department will request the maximum $250,000 grant and identified a $35,000 local CIP match plus partner contributions. Councilman Beckias moved to correct a packet error that listed $465,000 and amend the request to the $250,000 application amount; the amendment passed on roll call and the council then approved the main motion. The votes on both the amendment and the main motion were recorded as 6–0.
