Board hears update on skate-park repairs with Newaygo High School engineering class; additional funds may be needed

Jon Schneider told the Newaygo Community Recreation Authority that the Newaygo High School Engineering Science class began work on the skate-park repair project last fall and that the authority spent a little more than $10,000 on the project last year. Schneider said further repairs may cost a similar amount and that he will contact the class teacher, Luke Francis, to confirm whether students can continue the work this school year.
Schneider said the board may need to call a special meeting to approve additional funds if the school participates in further repairs. The minutes do not record a formal motion or an approved dollar amount for additional skate-park work during the Sept. 12 meeting; the report was noted and will be followed up as needed.
