City manager updates council on homelessness advisory committee, public input session set

City staff told the council Monday that the homelessness advisory committee has met twice and will hold a third meeting tomorrow in the form of a public input session using the council's public comment guidelines.
"That 3rd meeting is gonna take the form of a public input session… they have created or asked city staff to create an email address to receive emailed public comment. That email address is homelessness.committee@BangorMaine.gov," a staff member said. The committee has elected Alton Buzl as chair, Jason Goodrich as vice chair and Ben Treat of the library as secretary. Councilor Fish consented to serve as the council liaison to the committee.
Staff said the GovOps committee had voted to refer a day‑center RFP to the homelessness advisory committee for review and invited any council objections before formalizing the referral; none were raised. The committee's public input session and the new email address are intended to collect community feedback before the advisory group makes recommendations to council.
