Prairie Street slated for regrading and culvert upgrades after city rejects current work

Staff updated the council on remediation plans for Prairie Street following inspections that deemed current grading unacceptable. The contractor (work subcontracted through Gilco) plans to install 18-inch culverts, redo the grading and slopes, and insert a manhole at the end of Ballpark Circle as part of the remediation.
"They're gonna put in 18 inch culverts. They're gonna redo the grading and slopes. They are inserting a manhole at the end of Ballpark Circle," city staff (S1) told the council. Staff said current ditches are approximately 5 feet deep and that the slope will be reduced from the current 2:1 to a preferred 4:1 to meet engineering guidance; the city will not accept the road until inspections confirm compliance. Council directed staff to monitor the contractor's corrective work and provide finalized plans when complete.
