The Kermit Independent School District Board of Trustees on Sept. 11 adopted Baseball and Softball Turf Shop Drawings and the Baseball, Softball & Tennis Construction Drawings, following a presentation and recommendation from Superintendent Dr. Rodney Schneider. Trustee Lorina Lujan moved to adopt the drawings and Trustee Miguel Urquidi seconded; the motion was approved with a favorable unanimous vote.
The board also authorized Dr. Schneider to negotiate a daily rate with outside contractors to remove sod from the baseball field and install it around the KJH track, with a cap of $10,000 in total cost. Trustee Ramiro Antillon moved the authorization and Trustee Ricky Morales seconded; the motion passed unanimously. The approvals are part of the district's ongoing bond-related construction work that was summarized earlier in a bond update from Gallagher & Associates.
