Forest County Commissioners approved Resolution #1 of 2025 to create a Demolition Fund financed by an additional recording fee. Under the resolution, the Recorder of Deeds may collect up to $15 for each deed or mortgage recorded; those fees will be deposited into a fund to be used exclusively for demolition of blighted properties.
Treasurer Stacey Barnes noted that the county could not open the new account until the resolution was approved at a meeting; commissioners acknowledged that and said they would address account opening at a subsequent meeting. Commissioner Patrick F. Kline moved to approve the resolution and Commissioner Robert J. Snyder, Jr. seconded; the motion passed unanimously.
