Richland R-I board reorganizes and elects Dennis McGarity as president

The Richland R-I Board of Education convened a reorganizational meeting on April 8, 2026, at 5:15 p.m. in the Board of Education Room. The board approved the reorganization agenda (motion by Mr. Jeremy Conner; second by Mr. Dennis McGarity) with six yeas and zero nays, then voted to disband the existing board as part of the reorganization process (motion by Ms. Hollie Wheeler; second by Mr. Chris Porter), which carried 6–0.
The superintendent temporarily assumed the role of moderator to administer oaths of office to newly elected members before the board completed officer elections. Ms. Hollie Wheeler moved to reorganize the board, seconded by Mr. Chris Porter; that motion passed 7–0. Mr. Clinton Corlew then moved to elect Mr. Dennis McGarity as the new board president; Ms. Hollie Wheeler seconded and the motion carried 7–0. The newly elected president assumed the moderator role following the vote.
The board also elected Gregg Fowler as vice president (motion by Mr. Chris Porter; second by Ms. Hollie Wheeler; vote 7–0), Hannah Gregory as treasurer (motion by Mr. Jeremy Conner; second by Mr. Clinton Corlew; vote 6–0 with one abstention by Ms. Wheeler), and Hollie Wheeler as secretary (motion by Mr. Jeremy Conner; second by Mr. Dennis McGarity; vote 7–0). The meeting adjourned after the officer elections.
