Monte Sereno youth commissioners plan Los Gatos holiday parade appearance with vintage bus

Monte Sereno's Youth Commission discussed and agreed informally to participate in the Los Gatos children's Christmas/holiday parade on Saturday, Dec. 6, 2025, with staging at 9 a.m. and an expected parade runtime of about 15 minutes. Mayor Craig and commissioners described options to walk with the city banners or ride on a resident-donated bus; the group favored using the bus to simplify setup and teardown.

Mayor Craig described the vehicle the commission hopes to use as a highlight for participants. "a vintage National Park touring bus," he said, noting it is an open-top coach that has been used in local parades. Commissioners discussed decorating the vehicle the morning of the parade, wearing youth-commission shirts or holiday hats, and inviting family members or one guest per commissioner if space allows. Chair Yohan said the discussion was sufficient and no vote was required: "Just a discussion. It's no action required." Nearby logistics raised practical questions: commissioners were told the bus will be available at 9:00 a.m., the parade begins at 11, and staging is near the high school with limited parking.

Next steps: volunteers will confirm the bus driver contact and whether the commission can decorate the coach on-site. Commissioners also agreed to use the Dec. 4 meeting as a short check-in to finalize participant counts and to store decorations in the chambers prior to the parade. Because the commission did not take a formal motion, plans will be finalized by staff and volunteers before the event.
