The Fine & Cultural Arts Commission recommended a mural design titled 'Wheaton: Your Hometown' by Botts & Swider‑Peltz for the French Market retaining wall north of the pavilion. Randy King, a commission member, said the artists—local instructors with ties to Wheaton College—will work with the commission to finalize plans and that the design reflects key aspects of Wheaton’s history.
King told the council the mural would last approximately "10 to 12 years," and staff advised they will return with a contract for council approval. Councilmembers expressed support for including additional Wheaton icons in the design and for filling the remaining 145 feet of wall over time.
