Bronxville post office closed for safety; mail service shifted to Yonkers Main Post Office

Village Administrator Jim Palmer told trustees the Bronxville Post Office had been closed after the village learned of HVAC and electrical safety issues and that the Postal Service posted a notice citing a safety hazard. Palmer said the village had no operational control over the federal property and that the village has been in touch with the postmaster and with local elected officials to get updates.
Palmer described the temporary service arrangement: customers with Bronxville PO boxes will retain their PO box numbers but will be served at the Yonkers Main Post Office (about 4.9 miles away). The Yonkers lobby hours and window retail hours were read from the Postal Service notice. "The village did not know that the postal service was going to be closing the post office in the village," Palmer said; the trustees said they would pass along information to residents as it becomes available and noted that state and federal contacts, including the village’s congressman and county legislators, had been engaged to seek resolution.
