Rockdale ISD honors boys cross country after district title; two runners advance to state

The Rockdale Independent School District Board of Trustees on Nov. 17 honored the Rockdale High School Boys Cross Country team for winning the UIL 3A - District 19 Boys District Championship and placing sixth at the regional meet. Communications Specialist Kayleigh Whitsel named the regional qualifiers and state qualifiers during the public hearing.
"The District is very proud of these high school and junior high school cross country athletes for their accomplishments and the manner in which they represented Rockdale ISD at the district, regional, and state levels," Whitsel said as the Board recognized seniors Alex Cooper, Jesse Montelongo, Zeb Skrhak and Angel Rivera and sophomores Ayedan Evans and Kaiden Comacho. Two runners advanced to the UIL State Meet: Jonathan Fuller, who placed 20th at state, and Austin Caldwell, who finished 48th in his senior season.
The Board also acknowledged junior high performances and congratulated Coaches Sean Lexima and Brock Miller for leading the athletes through the season. The recognition took place during the public hearing; there were no public forum speakers registered that evening.
