The Rockdale Independent School District Board of Trustees voted to retain Powell Law Group LLP to conduct the district’s superintendent search.
Amy Casas moved to approve Powell Law Group as the search firm; the motion was seconded by Karen Laughlin and carried (5 For). For the record, Board President Charles Miles said that although Vice President Jason Barcak had to leave the meeting and was not present to vote, "he was in unanimous agreement with the Board on the selection of the search firm." The vote was taken after presentations by five firms earlier in the meeting.
The presentations reviewed proposals from Walsh Gallegos Kyle Robinson & Roalson P.C., Leasor Crass P.C., JG Consulting, Powell Law Group LLP, and the Texas Association of School Boards. The board entered closed session later the same evening and returned to open session before making the selection. No dollar amount or contract term for the search was specified in the public minutes.
