"Our goal is to enclose that area into the house so that we can create a great room out of our currently separate kitchen and family room," Caseta said, adding that the back property line sits 26 feet from the house and the current setback requirement is 30 feet, leaving about 4 feet in question.
Caseta said adjacent property owners Sarah and Matt Eddy provided a letter supporting the project and that the elevation and a five‑foot fence mean the change would have "0 impact" on their property. Chair Kamen told Caseta the committee could not act on setback changes that are not on the agenda and that formal review depends on a submitted application and plans. The chair suggested the item may appear on a future agenda once the application is complete.
The episode occurred during the oral‑communications portion of the meeting; the committee did not take action on the request. Caseta offered to answer questions and to have his architect return at a later hearing if the application proceeds.
