Board approves engineering work and up to $800,000 for Milburn Street retaining wall

Village Administrator summarized a resolution authorizing the board to retain geotechnical engineers to prepare bid documents and to authorize up to $800,000 for restoration of the Milburn Street retaining wall behind the Avalon apartment complex.
"This resolution is for the restoration of, the Milburn Street retaining wall... and also authorizing dead service for $800,000 to allow for the restoration of the wall," the administrator said during the presentation. Trustees discussed whether to rebuild one stairway rather than two to save money and emphasized prioritizing safety and cost efficiency.
The board moved, seconded and approved the resolution by voice vote. Staff said engineers will prepare bid documents over the winter and that the village will proceed carefully with design and procurement steps before construction.
