Bronx River resilience work advances; village expects up to $2 million in FEMA funds

Village Administrator reported the village is working with the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation on a Resilient New York grant to study the Bronx River corridor and identify remediation steps.
"We have monies that the, the village is gonna be obtaining from FEMA of up to $2,000,000 which we're continuing to work our way through that project," the administrator said, describing ongoing coordination with DEC and county park staff on sediment removal, bank stabilization and a plan to reinstall scribe gauges to improve river data.
Officials said the Paxton Avenue corridor and other localized flood points are complex projects that will require additional planning and outside engineering. Trustees were briefed that some work — including surveying and geotechnical analysis — is underway and that grants and state coordination are central to the next steps.
The board did not take a land-use vote at the meeting; officials said more engineering, design and permitting work is expected through the winter before bids or construction begin.
