Supervisor presents preliminary 2025 budget; resident urges clearer, multi-year accounting

Supervisor Corcoran presented the Town of Marlborough's preliminary 2025 budget at a public hearing on Oct. 15, 2024, and invited public questions on the proposal. Resident James Garofalo told the board he found the document hard to follow, saying the document felt like "a bunch of numbers" and asking for the budget to be "spread out over the years" so residents can see what was spent and what was accomplished.
Corcoran told the room that an internal spreadsheet is available, stating, "we do have an Excel sheet that goes back ten years with all that information on it." Councilman Cauchi added that much of the information is presented through departmental monthly reports. Corcoran also said the board expects to release a final budget next week. The exchange left the town with an identified public-request for clearer, multi-year presentation of spending; no changes to the draft budget were made during the hearing.
