Viborg council confirms 2026 committees, council officers and election board

At its Jan. 12 meeting the Viborg City Council accepted the 2026 committee assignments and elected council officers. The motion to accept appointments passed with no changes other than updates to the Chief of Police and Finance Officer roles.
The minutes list Shelley DeJong as Council President and Neal Hanson as Vice President. The council also appointed the 2026 Election Board: Caroline Ackerman (superintendent), Karla Goettertz, Barbara Steskal and alternate Julie Jensen. Committees for streets, water/sewer, parks, library and other functions were published in the minutes.
