Cuesta Elementary ASB students showcase newspaper and raise more than $56,000 in fun-run donations

Students and staff from Cuesta Elementary joined the Jan. 15 board meeting to lead the Pledge and present school activities. Tanisha, Cuesta's ASB president, told trustees ASB is now offered as an elective and meets four times a week, enabling the student group to plan more events. "So new to Cuesta this year, we have ASB as an elective," she said.
Adian, the ASB vice president, introduced the new monthly student newspaper, the Cougar Chronicles, explaining the digital flipbook is produced in Canva and distributed to teachers via a link. Treasurer Mahad told the board the ASP/QSF fun run raised $56,604; the students described upcoming events including spirit rallies, multicultural day and field day. Principal Vieira and the board thanked the students for the presentation and encouraged them to stay for the meeting.
A community member praised the newspaper and the district's attention to younger-student events during public comment.
