The board approved a new unrepresented classified job description and salary for a food service buyer, effective Feb. 1, 2025. Superintendent Dr. Nicholas said growth in the food‑service program created the need for a dedicated purchaser "We used to be able to handle all this in house. This new position is very important," he said.
Trustee Olsen moved and Trustee Mody seconded the motion; the board voted 5–0 to approve. Dr. Nicholas cited purchasing lead June Teague as a model for the role and said the district expects to add similar positions as operations expand.
Why it matters: As enrollment and meal volumes grow, the district said a dedicated food service buyer will centralize purchasing, improve efficiency and reduce staff workload in school kitchens.
